Black Philanthropy Month 2026 Call to Action: Many Voices. One Movement.

August is Black Philanthropy Month. Black Philanthropy Month (BPM) is a global celebration and action campaign held every August to recognize, amplify, and invest in Black-led giving and community impact. We’re proud to join the national celebration of Black Philanthropy Month and this year’s theme, Many Voices. One Movement.


In 2020, philanthropic leaders in the Bay Area identified the need for coordination, centralized data infrastructure, a pooled strategy, and long-term accountability for investments in Black-led power building. BFN emerged as a natural home for this alignment work. From CEO strategy conversations to member-driven programming, the Network has consistently focused on how philanthropy can move beyond reactive funding toward disciplined, sustained investment. 


BFN’s work is guided by four priorities:


  • Create safe, supportive, learning-oriented spaces that support Black people to enter and advance in philanthropy

  • Serve as strong influence leaders in philanthropy for Black communities

  • Align Black funders and allies to maximize support for Black-led organizations

Black Funders Network operates from a core belief that if Black people in philanthropy have a real community (one that builds their relationships, sharpens their practice, and pools their influence) then they will have the capacity, confidence, and positioning to move more money, trust, and decision-making power toward Black-led organizations and Black communities across the Greater Bay Area.
