Research, including data from the Center for Effective Philanthropy, demonstrates that investing in a workforce directly over time translates into stronger outcomes, deeper community trust, and a more sustainable sector (Center for Effective Philanthropy, 2023).


This added success stems from the fact that diverse teams bring a wider range of experiences, perspectives, and problem-solving approaches to the table. In addition, prioritizing a healthy and supported workforce contributes to a more sustainable sector, as it reduces turnover and burnout in a field that relies heavily on its human capital to thrive (Nonprofit HR, 2024).


We are exploring workforce composition across the nonprofit sector and in philanthropy. Building on the momentum of recent progress, there's an opportunity to further diversify leadership within philanthropic sectors. We're seeing upward trends, with people of color increasing their representation in grantmaking staff and CEO positions.
